Dell opens retail sales at Croma stores

Mumbai, March 26

Dell Inc has tied up with Tata Group subsidiary Infinity Retail to sell its laptops, desktops and other offerings through the Croma chain of stores. The announcement marks the first time that Dell products will be made available in India through a retail outlet, according to a news release issued by the company. However, financial details of the engagement were not spelled out.

“The agreement with Croma will strengthen Dell’s consumer presence in India, making our products more accessible to customers,” Mr Michael Tatelman, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, Dell consumer business, said at a news conference here.

The facility has been launched in a Croma store in Mumbai; the two companies have not taken a call on whether Dell products will be made available in all Croma stores in the country.

Croma operates 17 stores in six Indian cities, out of which nine are in Mumbai. Dell will provide customers with the ability to walk into the Croma outlet, ask for a configuration of his choice and get it delivered at their doorsteps after some days, said Mr Mahesh Bhalla, Director, Dell.
