Tata Tele ties up with PayMate

Mumbai, March 26

Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL) has partnered with mobile commerce firm PayMate to enable Tata Indicom customers to book domestic flight tickets on the mobile phone.

Customers need to download a application one-time from Tata Zone to experience the service. They can make the payment by providing credit card details on the phone and get an instant booking confirmation, according to a news release from PayMate.

"PayMate will be leveraging its association with travel portals such as makemytrip.com and travelmart.com to enable customers to search for the cheapest airfares. Partnering with Tata Indicom will just make this facility available across several million handsets in one go and provide an extremely convenient ticketing channel for customers," said Mr Ajay Adiseshann, Founder and Managing Director, PayMate.

The service is targeted at frequent fliers on low-cost and full-service airlines, the press release stated. The charges for the application vary from Rs 10 for a three-day trial up to Rs 30 a month. The TTSL scrip was up by 3.68 per cent to close at Rs 28.2 on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Wednesday. - Our Bureau
