Raghu Menon is new AI chief

New Delhi, March 26 The Government has approved the appointment of Mr Raghu Menon, who is currently Special Secretary in the Civil Aviation Ministry, as the next Chairman and Managing Director of Air India.

Official sources said that while the appointment has been cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, the official order is likely to be issued soon.

Mr Menon will take over as the CMD of National Aviation Company of India Ltd, a 100 per cent Government-owned company, which was operationalised in August last year following the merger of Air India and Indian. It has been entrusted with the job of providing passenger and cargo services in India and overseas and operates under the brand name Air India.

The current CMD, Mr V. Thulasidas is retiring on March 31. Mr Menon is likely to hold charge for the next three and half years.
