Chennai, March 26 The Confederation of Indian Industry has proposed a partnership with the UK for developing a ‘Mission on Skills’ during a meeting with the UK’s Prime Minister, Mr Gordon Brown, according to a press release from the CII.

A 14-member delegation led by Mr Sunil Bharti Mittal, President, CII and Chairman and Group CEO, Bharti Enterprises, met with Mr Brown in London on Tuesday, the release said. The mission on skills would train over a million Indians who would then form a part of the global talent pool.

Indian SMEs and British innovation could come together to take technology to the market for mutual benefit. Both sides committed to greater collaboration between British universities and Indian industry. The CII delegation called on Mr Gordon Brown as a follow up to his to India in January.

Mr Brown highlighted his focus on key decisions on issues relating to energy, planning processes, transportation, infrastructure, science and innovation and climate change that would shape long term stability and economic growth, the release said.
