Common training centre for coir products

Madurai, March 26 A special purpose vehicle and a common facility centre to provide basic infrastructure and training in coir products manufacturing has been planned by the Coir Board at Periakulam in Theni district.

According to the District Collector, Mr S.J. Chiru, the board has sanctioned Rs 80 lakh and the centre would have modern machineries such as automatic spinning yarn loom and matting instruments to provide training.

The basic infrastructure would be developed at Periakulam under a special scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries.

Special training would be imparted to 450 women from 30 self-help groups on manufacture of value-added products.
