Our Bureau

Kolkata, March 28

With a few more days still to go before the closure of the current fiscal, South East Central Railway (SECR), the country’s largest freight-loading zonal railway, has crossed the freight loading target of 119 million tonnes (mt) set for the year and achieved 120.04 mt, according to a press release issued by SECR.

It is hoped that the current fiscal will end up with a throughput of 121.5 mt, the sources add. The target for 2008-09 will be set at 130 mt, for which steps have already been initiated, says the release. Mr Pradeep Kumar, General Manager of SECR, has congratulated the employees and officers of SECR for the outstanding performance of the zone in freight loading.
