Sumantran joins Hinduja Auto

Chennai, March 31 Former Executive Director of Tata Motors (passenger car business unit), Dr V. Sumantran, has joined the recently-formed Hinduja Automotive UK as its Executive Vice- Chairman. Hinduja Automotive UK is the holding company of the Hinduja Group’s automotive interests, including Ashok Leyland and Hinduja Foundries Ltd (formerly Ennore Foundries Ltd).

After bidding adieu to Tata Motors in August 2005, Dr Sumantran has been a consultant. The Hinduja Group has been a client. Prior to his stint in Tata Motors as Executive Director, he spent over 16 years at General Motors Corporation, mostly in Detroit and later in Europe, serving as Director (Advanced Engineering) of SAAB Automobile.

According to a press release, this appointment reinforces the expansion plans of the Hinduja Group.
