Spa Group to invest Rs 100 cr in exclusive boutiques

Phalguna Jandhyala

Hyderabad, March 31 The Spa Group (TSG), a distributor for retail luxury brands such as Villeroy & Boch, WMF and Christofle in India, would be investing Rs 100 crore in the next four years to open more than 40 exclusive boutiques for various brands in the country.

“By the end of the next financial year (2008-09) we are looking at taking the total number of outlets from the present 14 to 56 in all the major cities across the country. Each of the new outlets will cater to one exclusive brand that the Group is a distributor for,” Ms Vinita Misra, Vice-President (Retail Operations), The Spa Group, told Business Line.

She added that the overall plan of the company is to expand the portfolio to 12 brands by 2009 with a total retail network of 160 boutiques by 2010.

TSG, apart from bringing in luxury tableware brands, is also in talks with a couple of Spa brands and expects to close a few deals in the next six months. “By the end of March next year we are looking at opening five more stores for Villeroy and Boch. While one more store will come up in Mumbai, two outlets will come up in Delhi and one each in Bangalore and Kolkata,” she said. TSG also plans to open boutiques for Villeroy and Boch in Chandigarh, Chennai and Ahmedabad in the second phase. “The second phase of expansion for the company will be completed by September 2009, after which we would be looking at opening stores through the shop-in-shop model in tier-II cities,” Ms Misra added.

TSG is looking at getting the French tableware major Christofle to Hyderabad in the next four months and then have an exclusive showroom for US-based WMF by November this year.
