Annual credit plan for Virudhunagar

Madurai, March 31 The annual credit plan for Virudhunagar district for 2008-09 envisages an outlay of Rs 1,191.53 crore for the priority sector. The allocation is Rs 91 crore more than the previous year, according to District Collector Mr V. Chandrasekaran.

Agriculture and farm related activities have been allocated Rs 425.47 crore. The non-farm sector and the service sector have been allocated Rs 521.66 crore and Rs 244.40 crore respectively.

For 2007-08, while the target was fixed at Rs 1,100.63 crore till December 2007, the credit from banks stood at Rs 1,387.76 crore, exceeding the target.

About 314 self help groups have received Rs 78.50 lakh as revolving fund under the Golden Jubilee Rural Employment Scheme. Subsidy under the scheme to the extent of Rs 42.50 lakh was given to 423 groups last year, he added.
