Gujarat Ambuja’s new plant goes on stream

Ahmedabad, April 1 Gujarat Ambuja Exports Ltd (GAEL) has announced the commencement of commercial production at its new maize processing plant of 500 tonnes per day (TPD) capacity in Uttrakhand.

GAEL is present in all the segments of agro-processing i.e. crushing of soyabean seeds and other oil cakes, refining of crude edible oil, maize processing and cotton yarn spinning, its Chairman and Managing Director, Mr VijayKumar Gupta, said here.

The new plant, situated at Sitarganj in Uttrakhand, began commercial production on March 27 and despatched its first cargo the next day. The company hopes to achieve 100 per cent capacity utilisation in the next two months. With the addition in capacity in maize processing division at Uttrakhand, the company will be the second largest manufacturer of maize-based products and its derivatives.

The effluent treatment unit at the new plant is eligible for carbon credit. The company had set up the plant at a cost of Rs 60 crore, entirely through internal accruals
