Our Bureau

Mumbai, April 1 Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) said it has made another gas discovery in an exploratory block (KG_DWN_2003/1) in the Krishna basin.

This block, awarded under the New Exploration and Licensing Policy-V, is situated 45 kms away from the coast.

Second discovery

This is the second discovery in this block, said a news release from the company.

“The potential commercial interest of the discovery is being ascertained through more data gathering and analysis,” said RIL.

RIL holds 90% participating interest in the block and Hardy Exploration and Production India Inc 10% participating interest.

‘Dhirubhai-41’

The new discovery (named ‘Dhirubhai–41’) has been notified to Government and to the

Directorate General of Hydrocarbons, said RIL.

RIL had made its first gas discovery in the same block in February this year, naming the discovery ‘Dhirubhai–39’.

In the last quarter of fiscal 2007-08, RIL has made four discoveries, two in Krishna Basin Deep Waters, one in the shallow waters of Krishna Basin and one in the Mahanadi Basin.

On track

Its KG-D6 project is on track for delivery of gas by the second half of financial year 2009, according to the latest presentation on the company’s website.

The company’s scrip rose 3.56 per cent in a lacklustre market, closing the day at Rs 2,345.10.
