Midhani records Rs 256-cr sales

Hyderabad, April 2 The Hyderabad-based Mishra Dhatu Nigam Ltd (Midhani), has recorded an all-time high sales turnover of Rs 256 crore and a profit before tax of Rs 27 crore for the financial year 2007-08.
Rs 192-cr turnover
The turnover for 2006-07 for this defence public sector undertaking was Rs 192 crore. The present order book position was Rs 700 crore, including orders worth Rs 232 crore booked during the year.
Sales record
According to the provisional results announced here on Tuesday by the Chairman and Managing Director, Mr M. Narayana Rao, the company has for the first time crossed the Rs 200-crore mark in its sales turnover after its turnaround in 2003-04.
The company has embarked upon a massive modernisation and upgradation programme partly-funded by its strategic customers and partly from its internal resources to meet the hi-tech special materials requirements for the ambitious “Chandrayan” (moon mission) and other programs of Department of Space as also for the Core of Fast Breeder Reactor programme of the country’s nuclear power program, he said.
The company, set up primarily for achieving self reliance in critical materials has been supporting programmes of national importance in strategic sectors including Space, Defence, Aeronautics, and Atomic Energy.
