Kirloskar Power’s new Pune facility opened

Pune, April 2 Kirloskar Power Equipments Ltd has announced the inauguration of a greenfield manufacturing unit at Kondhapuri, near Pune. The new facility will help enhance manufacturing capacity to meet the robust demand for transformers in India the country and abroad.

Set up with an investment of Rs 25 crore, the new unit will produce cast resin transformers from 250 KVA to 10,000 KVA, 33 KV Class and oil filled transformers from 160 KVA to 10,000 KVA, 33 KV Class.

“Kirloskar Power Equipments has established itself as a key player in the Indian transformer industry. The company should cross a turnover of Rs 150 crore in 2007-08 and we expect to reach Rs 500 crore in the next five years,” Mr Vijay Kirloskar, Chairman, said.

The Kondhapuri unit will increase the company’s manufacturing capacity and also provide jobs to 150 workers, he added.

The Pune-based Kirloskar Power Equipment Limited is a subsidiary of Kirloskar Electric Company and manufactures oil filled transformers.
