CII to release vision document for TN

Our Bureau

Chennai, April 2 The crystallised form of the ‘dreams of a thousand people’ is the Confederation of Indian Industry’s Tamil Nadu Vision 2025, a document of what the people want this State to be, according to Mr Gopal Srinivasan, Chairman, Tamil Nadu State Council, CII.

Tamil Nadu Vision 2025 to be released formally on April 12 is a vision document with a difference, it breaks with the tradition of setting a target that is limited by the present but sets a goal that is different from the present and says how to make it happen.

Over the last several months, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), the international consultant commissioned by CII, has worked on putting together the document.

While saving the details of the vision 2025 document for the formal launch, Mr Srinivasan said that CII would make the outlines of what is needed as part of its agenda for the development of the State.

Ms Latha Ramanathan, Executive Director, PwC, said that the approach to creating the vision document for Tamil Nadu was unique when compared to those by other States.

A typical projection relies on history to set a target of 10-15 per cent growth. But here, after wide discussions the goal is “radically different from the present but achievable” with CII planning to incorporate the elements of the projection within its agenda.
