Record tax mop up in Vizag zone
Visakhapatnam, April 2
The Visakhapatnam zone of customs, central excise
and service tax has notched up record revenue
collections of Rs 11,168 crore during 2007-08, according
to Mr P.N. Vittal Dass, Chief Commissioner. At a press
meet here on Wednesday, he said the target was Rs
10,980 crore and it had been surpassed by nearly Rs 190
crore. The customs collections were Rs 3,336 crore and
the central excise Rs 7,189 crore, the rest being service tax
(Rs 643 crore). - Our Bureau
