US firm sets up lab here

New Delhi, April 3

Worried that the apparel you are wearing might have banned dyes or worse, the pashmina shawl may have been procured by killing an endangered animal? The US-based Specialised Technology Resource promises to rest such fears by conducting quality tests on products and commodities. The consumer product testing and quality assurance company has set up its hi-tech testing laboratory at Manesar, near Gurgaon, with an investment of $2 million. “The facility will offer a broa d range of testing and quality assurance services for retailers, manufacturers, importers and distributors of apparel, textile and leather products,” said Ms Varchala Abrol, General Manager India, STR Labs. The company will test products for flammability, fibre content, colour fastness, chemical analysis, besides American and European standards of compliances for various industries. —
