Westside ropes in emerging designers

Mumbai, April 3

Westside has tied up with three emerging fashion designers from the Lakme India Fashion Week, to create and showcase their collections at its stores across the country. The high-end prêt collections will be sold at some of the 30 Westside retail outlets from September, and the tie-up is for one season. However, the three designers are not bound by contract and will be free to associate themselves with any other retailer of their choice. Fashion designer Narendra Kumar has been roped in to mentor the young designers, who will also be provided with inputs from the Westside team on scaleability and mass production. The clothes will be tagged with the names of the designers and Westside will hold fashion shows to promote the collections, come September. The price range of the collection will be a notch above that of the regular Westside prices, more than Rs 1,000, said Mr Gaurav Mahajan, Head-Buying, Westside.
