P.C. Jha is now CBEC chairman

New Delhi, April 3

The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) has a new Chairman in Mr P.C. Jha. He has assumed charge as the CBEC Chairman with effect from April 1. Prior to his elevation as the CBEC Chairman, Mr Jha, a 1971 batch IRS officer, was holding the charge of a Member (Central Excise and Service Tax) in the Board. Mr Jha had earlier worked in Raxaul, Muzzafarnagar, Jamshedpur, Ahmedabad, Delhi and Mumbai. He had also worked as the Joint Secretary (Customs) in the Board, an official release said. Meanwhile, Mr Vijay Singh, a 1972 batch IRS officer, has joined CBEC as a Member. He was the Director General of the National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics before joining the Board. - Our Bureau
