Rosemor looking for partner in India

Bindu D. Menon

New Delhi, April 4 Upbeat about the increasing use of escalators in airports and malls in India, UK-based Rosemor International, a manufacturer and supplier of escalator-cleaning equipment, is scouting for a joint venture partner to set up base in India.

Currently, the company has a marketing tie-up with Mumbai’s Gruppe Littlesilver and is at an advance level of deploying its machinery for the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and airports.

“Ours is a highly precision engineered product. We may look at setting up a sub-assembly line or even a manufacturing facility once our presence in India is established,” Mr Efi Rosen, Managing Director Rosemor told Business Line.

Currently, Rosemor’s machines are being used in airports, railway stations, departmental stores and shopping centres across 23 countries across the globe.

Mr Rosen said the company’s Rotomac and Rotofast escalator cleaning machines have attracted mall developers and as many 200 machines could be imported and deployed in the country over the next two years.

“We believe at least 3.2 million sq. ft. of space is being developed for malls alone. Rosemor is in a position to help keep the hundreds of resultant escalators clean. The automated machines can fit themselves into the escalators without removing and reinstalling them. Cleaning and maintenance costs of escalators are considerably reduced compared to other methods. What took days before, now only takes hours,” he said.

In India, the company is looking to provide onsite training besides project-specific advice and equipment supply to meet specific needs. It has started offering an escalator cleaning service where Rosemor personnel clean escalators on a contract basis. For the privately-held company, the US is currently its biggest market.
