Our Bureau New Delhi, April 5 Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC) has taken steps to enhance its in-house capability on oil-spill response. The company has worked out a strategy to strengthen its oil spill response capability and enhance preparedness to respond to any contingency, after consultations with the UK’s Oil Spill Response and East Asia Response Ltd (OSRL) recently, a company statement said. OSRL is a non-profit cooperative of 33 global oil multinationals such as Chevron, BP, BG, Shell, ExxonMobil, and ONGC as shareholders working to combat major oil spills. The ONGC Chairman and Managing Director, Mr R.S. Sharma, has met the OSRL Chief Executive, Mr Archie Smith, at Delhi for strategising the response plan. ONGC has in-house capacity to combat Tier I oil spill. ONGC is a resource agency for NOSDCP operated by the Indian Coast Guard, Ministry of Defence, for major oil spill. NOSDCP stipulates the organisational and operational details to effectively combat a national oil spill contingency. ONGC, being a member, has signed the participant’s agreement with OSRL, UK, earlier, to combat major oil spill. More Stories on : Outlook | Petroleum | Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd
