SCR registers record freight

Hyderabad, April 5

The South Central Railway (SCR) has achieved a record growth in originating freight loading traffic at 70 million tonnes during 2007-08 as against 62.2 mt last year, showing a growth of 12.5 per cent. While surpassing the target of 68.5 mt set by the Railway Board, the zone also achieved higher growth rate than that of the Railways that clocked nine per cent in 2007-08. During the year, the earnings of the zone stood at Rs 3,415 crore as against Rs 2,810 crore in 2006-07, showing a growth of 21.50 per cent.
