Strategy Reliance Digital plans more stores
Mr Ajay Baijal Hyderabad, April 7 With the share of organised retailing growing fast in the Rs 70,000-crore digital market in the country, Reliance Retail is planning to open 150 Digital stores in 70 cities in the next three years. The immediate roll-out could be in the States of Punjab, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. The share of organised digital segment is about 8-9 per cent. “This will go up to 25-30 per cent in the next three years,” Mr Ajay Baijal, President and Chief Executive (Consumer Durab le IT and Telecom), said. “At present, we have five Digital stores and three iStores (exclusive outlets to sell Apple products). We will be looking at opening stores with an area of 10,000-12,000 sq ft, offering a bouquet of 150 brands,” he said. Excluding land, a typical outlet could cost around Rs 6-7 crore.
