Funds for poverty alleviation

Hyderabad, April 7

The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation has so far approved 57 projects under the Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme in Andhra Pradesh with an outlay of Rs 687.26 crore. Of this, Rs 511 crore would be given by the Centre, with the State chipping in the remaining amount. The Ministry of Finance had released Rs 255.56 for the programme. Under this programme, about 30,000 dwelling units would be constructed. Under Basic Services to the Urban Poor, the Ministry proposed to construct 31,419 houses in Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. The State and Centre would spend a total of Rs 1,708 crore. - Our Bureau
