Hyderabad, April 8 Ford India today announced the launch what the company claimed was first such initiative by an automotive manufacturer in the country that offers 24-hour Ford Service Roadside Assistance for all new car buyers beginning April 1.

This after-sales service programme provides Ford customers a stress-free vehicle ownership and motoring and breakdown service. All the existing Ford owners too have the option to avail themselves of this facility by paying Rs 1,100 a year.

The Vice-President of Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford India, Mr Scott McCormack, said the feedback from customers has been fantastic who have been highly appreciative of the promptness and quality of service.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr McCormack said this 24-hour service comes without any additional cost to the owner and is accessible through a national toll-free number providing on site assistance services that cover mechanical services, transportation of car to service centre if required, fuel delivery among others.

The company has signed Mondial Assistance, an internationally acclaimed automotive service provider, to offer these services.

Small car

Mr McCormack said that the company is in the process of expanding its manufacturing facility from 1,00,000 cars to 2,00,000 cars and expects to roll out its small car in the Indian market within 24 months.

Referring to the company sales, he said that they sold over 38,000 cars in 2007 and expect to increase volumes with wider range of offerings. Its mid-sized sedan Fiesta is the largest selling model in the country.
