Mobile toilet in Sivakasi

Madurai, April 8

The Minister for Backward Classes Welfare, Mr K.S.S.R. Ramachandran, launched a mobile toilet, the first of its kind in the State, in Sivakasi Municipality, near here. The initiative, part of an effort to keep the town clean and green, has been introduced at a cost of Rs 9 lakh, with contributions from industrialists. Identity cards would be issued to residents of the ward where it is stationed by the service organisations and would be paid an incentive of 25 paise a day f or using the toilet. If the facility was found to be successful, it would be extended to other municipalities in the district, the Minister, the sources added. —
