Free by-pass surgery for poor
Kochi, April 8
Heart-2-Heart, a national facility aimed at providing
free by-pass surgery for patients coming under the
economically weaker sections of the society, was
launched today by Malayalam film actor Padmashree
Bharat Mammootty. Being implemented jointly by
Mammootty Fans Welfare Association and NIMS
Medicity, a Thiruvananthapuram-based hospital, the
scheme is intended to extend free medical help to
thousands of poor patients. Mammootty would also be
the brand ambassador of the scheme. Mammootty and
the NIMS Medicity Managing Director, Mr M. Faizal
Khan, exchanged the memorandum of understanding on
the project today. Dr Madhu Sreedharan, Head of the
Cardiology Department of NIMS, and the Mammootty
Welfare Association State President, Mr Chandrasenan,
