Spot rubber prices decline

Kottayam, April 9 Spot rubber declined on Wednesday. According to sources, the market failed to sustain at higher levels on buyer resistance though there has not been much selling pressure from growers or dealers. Sheet rubber closed extremely weak at Rs 107 and Rs 106.75 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi against Rs 107.75 a kg on Tuesday.

The May futures for RSS 3 managed to close in green at ¥278.3 (Rs 108.54) against ¥277.4 Yen a kg while the remaining contracts finished in red on TOCOM. RSS 3 spot slipped by 08 paise to Rs 112.62 a kg at Bangkok.

The rubber futures slipped further on NMCE.

The April contract moved down to Rs 105.12 (106.11), May to Rs.106.00 (107.20), June to Rs 106.60 (107.25) and July futures to Rs 106.65 (107.43) per kg for RSS 4. The open interest stood at 4,677 (4,826) tonnes.

The volumes were better at 1,153 (965) tonnes transacting 297 (264) tonnes in April, 555 (481) tonnes in May, 224 (164) tonnes in June and 77 (56) tonnes in July.

The open positions were 1,762 (1,802) tonnes in April, 1,871(1,875) tonnes in May, 704 (709) tonnes in June and 340 (343) tonnes in July.

The per kg spot prices follow: RSS-4 : Rs 107.00 (Rs 107.75) RSS-5: Rs 104.00 (Rs 105.50); Ungraded: Rs 102.00 (Rs 103.50); ISNR 20: Rs 103.50 (Rs 104.00) and Latex 60%: Rs 71.50 (Rs 72.00).
