Mangalore, April 10 Mangalore SEZ Ltd (MSEZL) has received environmental clearance for the first phase of the project from the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests, according to Mr I.S.N. Prasad, the company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday evening, he said that MSEZL is waiting for “consent for establishment” from the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) to start civil works at the project site. “Hopefully, we should get ‘consent for establishment’ within 10 days,” he said.

Stating that the first phase of the project will come up on 1,800 acres of land, he said 33 per cent of this land will have to be earmarked for the purpose of a green belt.
