Our Bureau Mumbai, April 10 State Bank of India is offering a cash award of Rs 1,001, along with an education loan, to 1 lakh HSC students in 10,000 rural schools across the country, under its ‘SBI Talent Awards’ scheme. The students who will receive the awards will be given the option to open a savings account with the bank, with Internet facilities and an ATM card. SBI has apportioned Rs 10 crore for the scheme which was launched in Mumbai today by Mr O.P. Bhatt, Chairman, State Bank of India. The bank will also sanction, in-principle, an education loan to the rank holders for pursuing higher education. There is no time frame for the student to avail himself of this loan, said Mr Shyamal Acharya, Chief General Manager, Rural Business, SBI.
