UK nod for Nestor drugs

New Delhi, April 11

Nestor Pharmaceutical’s UK-based subsidiary Nestor UK Ltd has obtained the permission from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) of the UK to market its products in the country. This would be the company’s first step into the European market. The company would produce from the facility it had taken over from US pharmaceutical giant Schering-Plough at Mildenhall Suffolk in the UK in 2006. Nestor has invested nearly £10 million in re novating the plant to make it one of the advance plants of UK. The plant now has an annual capacity to produce over 1 billion tablets, 500 tonnes of semi solids and 15 million beta lactum (API) capsules, a company release said. According to the President of the company, Mr Rahul Sehgal, “In future, we would like to add capacity for manufacturing syrups, dry powders, and non beta lactums to augment the plant’s full capacity. We also have plans to further expand into the neighbouring markets like Germany and France in the first stage of our expansion in this region,” he said. —
