Education States - Kerala B-school students urged to focus on research, teaching Our Bureau Kochi, April 11 Dr Gangan Prathap, Vice-Chancellor, Cochin University of Science and Technology, inaugurated the Business School Students Mentoring Cell at the Kerala Management Association. Speaking on the occasion, he said that India needs the right kind of leadership. He opined that India is not a poor country; but it was mismanaged. Dr Prathap called upon MBA students to focus on research and teaching profession, rather than taking up comfortable jobs. He reminded that most of the successful leaders, including Bill Gates, do not have MBA degree. Dr Prathap advised the Business Management students to go for engineering as well since the engineering graduates were in a position to serve the nation better. B School Mentoring Cell, a new initiative of KMA Management Students Forum, aims to provide the much needed corporate touch to the aspiring managers. The cell will basically fill the void ‘what they still don’t teach in B Schools’ by providing a platform for closer academia - industry interaction. Open to all student members of KMA Management Students Forum, one can expect lot of mentoring from the in depth pool of KMA corporate resources. Col S.C. Mohan, Executive Director, All India Management Association (AIMA), who was the Guest of Honour, inaugurated the AIMA nodal centre at KMA. The nodal centre at KMA has been a cherished dream of many a young working professional. It will cater to the needs of those pursuing their academic interest by offering all major distance learning courses offered by AIMA, including the Post-Graduate Diploma in Management approved by AICTE, and many other diploma and certificate courses from the stable of AIMA. The admission will be through MAT scores and the training modules and timings will be suited to any working professional. Even regular B school students can enrol themselves to take advantage of getting an additional diploma in the chosen field. Prof D.N.
