Spot rubber rules firm

Kottayam, April 12 Spot rubber finished firm in the weekend session. Covering groups were visibly active in the main marking centres and sheet rubber RSS 4 improved to Rs 107 from Rs 106.50 a kg at Kottayam and Kochi. The trend was mixed and volumes low. The April contract for RSS 4 improved marginally to Rs 106.40 (106.10), a kg while the May futures slipped to Rs 107.50 (107.58), June to Rs 107.89 (108.10) and July futures to Rs 107.41 (107.93) per kg on NMCE. The open interest stood at 4,661 (4,737) tonnes while the volumes totalled 409 (1,138) tonnes. The open positions were 1,552 (1,638) tonnes in April, 1,972 (1,978) tonnes in May, 744 (736) tonnes in June and 393 (385) tonnes in July. Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 107 (106.50); RSS-5: 105 (105); ungraded: 103 (102.50); ISNR 20: 104.50 (104.25) and latex 60 per cent: 71.50 (71.50).
