Tea Good demand for CTCs in N. Indian auctions Our Bureau Kolkata, April 13 Last week, the new season CTC teas in North Indian auctions met with good demand and fetched significantly higher prices than those of the previous seasons, according to J. Thomas & Company Pvt Ltd, the tea auctioneers. Good Dooars sold at Rs 95-110, and medium Dooars Rs 80-90. Good Assam brokens sold between Rs 100-120, fannings between Rs 100-107 and dusts Rs 104-110 . Packets were mostly quiet while there was strong inquiry from local and internal buyers. OrthodoxOrthodox varieties sold readily at levels similar to last year, while smaller brokens fetched considerably higher prices. The CIS and the West Asia shippers offered good support with some inquiry from North Indian buyers for bolder varieties. Local buyers were active for smaller brokens and fannings. There was no Darjeeling sale this week due to paucity of offerings. CROPNew season arrivals are below that of previous season but most estates have reported an increase in leaf intake in early April. INTERNATIONAL MARKETSSelected better teas saw good demand at fully firm levels but the remainder eased in value. Traditional exporters operated as usual.
