Toshiba expects India to account for $1 b revenue by 2015

Mumbai, March 15 Electronic products conglomerate Toshiba Corporation expects India to account for $1 billion of the company’s overall revenues by 2015.

In order to achieve this, the company will increase its market share from existing lines of business, come up with new products and scale up its retail presence in the country, according to Mr Yuzo Kato, Managing Director, Toshiba India Pvt Ltd.

However, the company did not reveal how much of its current revenues come from India. In a few years, Toshiba expects its laptop business to capture about 15 per cent market share from under five per cent at present, said Mr Sivakumar N, Country Manager-PC division. The company today launched a new range of notebook PCs, LCD TVs, refrigerators and washing machines.

Mr Pranab Mohanty, Country Manager-Consumer Product Division, expects the company to improve market share in the consumer durables space to 10 per cent by 2010 from under five per cent today.
