Kochi, April 16 The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) and its friendly organisations are holding the eighth congress of Southern Initiative on Globalisation and Trade Union Rights (SIGTUR) here from April 19 to 23.

Besides the Indian contingent, about 100 delegates from foreign countries will participate in the congress, which will review the ongoing struggle against globalisation all over the world and chalk out a programme of action to strengthen the struggle.

The Chief Minister, Mr V.S. Achuthanandan, will address the valedictory session of the conference and the Industries and Labour Ministers will participate in the congress.

The congress will have in-depth discussions on contemporary issues before the international trade union movement.
