BASF net profit up 18%

Bangalore, April 16

Aided by an overall improvement in operating results and higher capacity utilisation, BASF India reported an 18.5 per cent increase in its net profit at Rs 59.37 crore for the year ended March 31, 2008. The company’s sales revenue itself rose 18 per cent to Rs 1,030 crore compared to the previous year. “This increase was mainly on account of higher capacity utilisation, improved operating results of the agricultural products, performance products and chemicals businesses.” said Mr Prasad Chandran, Chairman and Managing Director of BASF India Ltd. The export sales at Rs 37.3 crore during the year recorded an increase of 16.6 per cent over the previous year. The company has recommended a dividend of 70 per cent.
