Great Lakes placement

Chennai, April 16

The placement season for the fourth batch of the Great Lakes Institute of Management saw a 40 per cent jump in the number of recruiters, with 27 companies making a debut at the campus this year. Average salary went up to Rs 9.7 lakh from Rs 9.3 lakh last year. According to Prof. S. Sriram, Executive Director of the institute, “despite the global recession”, the lowest salary offered this year is Rs 7.5 lakh. Great Lakes also witnessed an increased recruitment f rom the FMCG and manufacturing sectors. There was a drop in the IT sector recruitment. “This year, only 48 per cent of the students were placed in the IT sector as against 60 per cent last year.
