Brands Comet UK enters into brand licensing with Anicon Clothing Bindu D Menon New Delhi, April 16 European sports and fashion brand Comet UK has entered into a brand license and technical arrangement with Delhi-based Anicon Clothing Company to bring the brand into the country. As a first step, Anicon will be launching a range of fashion wear including trousers, denims and cargos in India under the Comet UK label. “Comet is the official custom apparel supplier to a number of sports clubs across Europe. We also did contract manufacturing for several international brands. However, with this tie up we will be entering the retail market in India and will secure new growing markets like India and the UAE,” Mr Maninder Singh, Head Business Development Comet UK, told Business Line. The Comet range in India will initially be available at multi-brand outlets and arrangements have been formalised with retail chains. Eventually, the company will open Comet Flagship Experience shops across India. “We are targeting at least 128 multi-brand outlets in northern India. This will be scaled up over the next six months,” Mr Singh said. Anicon will invest around Rs 10 crore towards increasing its retail presence and marketing activities. With two facilities — Gurgaon and Greater Noida — the company will be manufacturing the apparels in India, Mr Manmeet Rattan, Director of Anicon, said. The companies, however, declined to provide details of their revenue sharing arrangements. More Stories on : Brands | Readymade Garments
