New Delhi, April 18

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the implementation of two schemes of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Exports Development Authority (Apeda) that are to be implemented during the Eleventh Plan period.

While an outlay of Rs 229 crore has been approved for the scheme for Infrastructure Development, the CCEA also approved an outlay of Rs 200 crore for transport assistance during the Plan period.

Impact study

After two years of operation of the scheme, a comprehensive study will be conducted to evaluate its impact and to reformulate it if the need arises, an official spokesperson told newspersons.

The thrust of the support by APEDA under the infrastructure development scheme is on building infrastructure to facilitate export of agri produce. The interventions to be made by APEDA during the Plan period are expected to result in increased exports.

Growth at a Compounded Annual Growth Rate of 11.5 per cent for APEDA monitored products is targeted during the next five years, going up from Rs 21,150 to Rs 36,510, the official spokesperson added.
