`Special bonds' hit Coromandel

Hyderabad, April 22

Coromandel Fertilisers Ltd, an arm of the Muruguppa group, has registered a net profit of Rs 3.36 crore in the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2008, as against Rs 16.76 crore in the same quarter last year. Mr V. Ravichandran, Managing Director, has attributed the dip in profits to `Special Bonds' issued by the Government in lieu of reimbursement of the subsidy component. "The loss in market valuation is put at Rs 12.92 crore," he said. The total income for the period stood at Rs 608.30 crore (Rs 444.17 crore). - Our Bureau
