Madurai, April 22 The Tamilnadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry has urged the Tamil Nadu Government to take necessary remedial steps immediately for uninterrupted supply of quality power in the State.

Frequent power cuts severely impact industries, especially continuous process industries like plastic and rubber. Besides sustaining heavy wastages and loss of production, industrial units are unable to plan their production schedules, according to Mr S. Rethinavelu, chamber President.

In a release to the press here, he said that the industrial units are forced to pay wages for workers even for idle hours during power cuts. The small scale industries are the worst hit in this respect.
