Human Resources States - Andhra Pradesh Ex-servicemen up in arms to press their demands Our Bureau Hyderabad, April 22 Irked over the silence of the Central Government in implementing ‘one rank one pension’ demand in the aftermath of the Sixth Pay Commission’s report, the ex-servicemen are planning a big protest. The ex-Servicemen were also upset that no separate pay commission was constituted for the armed forces which could have grasped the needs and demands of the bulk of Defence pensioners, Brig (retd) M.R. Nath, President, Andhra Pradesh State Ex-Services League, said in a release. “The strength of ex-servicemen and their families are about 4.5 million. As such a separate pay commission for the armed forces would have done justice to us,” Mr Nath said. While the Sixth Pay Commission has recommended the removal of 33 years of qualifying service clause to earn 50 per cent of basic pay as pension, the Government had not compensated the ex-servicemen adequately, he said. To draw the attention of the Government to its demands, ex-servicemen from across the country would conduct a rally at the India Gate, New Delhi on April 27, he added.
