Mobile scheme from IFFCO arm

Tiruchi, April 23

The Indian Farmer Fertiliser Cooperative’s telecom subsidiary network IFFCO Kisan Sanchar Ltd (IKSL) has launched its ‘kisan green card’ mobile phone scheme for the farmers of Tiruchi district. Under the scheme, mobile phones, SIM cards and recharge charges would be given at subsidised rates for the farmers. The distribution of handsets and services would be implemented through the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Banks. Tiruchi was the fifth district in the State to receive the IKSL services. This scheme was already in existence in Villupuram, Erode, Cuddalore and Salem districts. Distributing mobile phones to the special officers on Tuesday, the Joint Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Tiruchi, Mr Jayam Pandiyan, said that the scheme would bring the services of cooperative societies to fore in rural areas and set a competitive platform with the private players. —
