Shipping Luxury cruise vessel calls at New Mangalore Port
Memorable voyage: Passengers disembarking the luxury cruise vessel m.v. Nautica at the New Mangalore Port on Friday. New Mangalore is the first port of call for the vessel in India. A.J. Vinayak Mangalore, April 25 The luxury cruise vessel m.v. Nautica with more than 600 passengers on board called at the newly built cruise lounge at the New Mangalore Port on Friday. Mr P. Tamilvanan, Chairman, New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT), told Business Line that New Mangalore is the first port of call for m.v. Nautica in India. The last port of call for the ship was Port Klang in Malaysia. The cruise vessel with 660 passengers called at New Mangalore Port at 7.30 a.m. on Friday. Of these passengers, 330 passengers went for sight-seeing in and around Mangalore. As many as 15 coaches were arranged for them. The ship has 350 crew members on board. The ship will leave for Goa from Mangalore. Stating that this is the maiden voyage to the newly constructed cruise terminal at New Mangalore Port, Mr Tamilvanan said both the passengers and the captain of the ship were happy with the facilities at the cruise lounge. He said the port is making all round efforts to increase both cargo and cruise traffic. To create more facilities for handling the increased number of cruise vessels calling at the port, a modern cruise lounge at a cost of Rs 3 crore has been built at New Mangalore Port. Mr Tamilvanan and Mr M.A. Bhaskarachar, Deputy Chairman, NMPT, welcomed the passengers at cruise lounge. More Stories on : Shipping
