Spot rubber rules firm

Kottayam, April 26 Spot rubber closed firm during the weekend session. RSS 4 improved to Rs 116.50 a kg from Rs 115 and Rs 115.50 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi as most of the players expected a better opening on Monday. The transactions were dull.

Futures mixed

The rubber futures showed a mixed trend on NMCE. The May futures improved to Rs 117.06 (116.46) and June to Rs 116.04 (115.16) a kg while the July futures slipped to Rs 111.10 (111.33) and August to Rs 109.30 (109.46) per kg for RSS 4. The volumes were 1,740 (2,820) tonnes while the open interest stood at 4,120 (3,874) tonnes. The outstanding positions were 2,043 (1,973) tonnes in May, 1,315 (1,165) tonnes in June, 605 (589) tonnes in July and 157 (147) tonnes in August.

Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 116.50 (115); RSS-5: 115 (113); ungraded: 112.50 (112); ISNR 20: 114 (112.50) and latex 60 per cent: 770 (76.50).
