Human Resources ‘Attrition biggest risk to corporate security’
Our Bureau Pune, April 26 Attrition had emerged as the number one risk to information security. Competitive Intelligence has emerged as another key area of risk and most corporates are struggling to deal with it. And for the first time, enterprises were confronted with the fact that physical security had a very important part to play in protecting IPR. These are the findings of the survey conducted by the Mahindra Special Services Group (MSSG) to asses the overall state of the Indian corporate security. Mr Raghu Raman, Chief Executive Officer, MSSG, noted that the results had proved that attrition is the biggest single contributor to enhanced risks to corporate security, competitive intelligence is a key risk area but corporates have done little to combat it, physical risk is seen as a serious concern and even a threat to information security, but is ranked lowest. Holistic approachThe study was focused on companies in India and addressed holistic corporate security and for the first time, physical risk and competitive intelligence were in focus. The findings of the survey suggested that companies tend to perceive/measure threats arising from different risks in isolation. When viewed holistically, the total risk is larger than the sum of its many individual parts. This is because of inter-linkages and interdependencies. There is, clearly, an urgent need for corporate India to adopt a holistic approach in recognising and managing corporate security. The survey clearly showed a fracture in the thought process that goes into combating the risking risk to corporates, he said. “Until now, surveys have looked at the global landscape and tried to draw lessons for the Indian companies.” More Stories on : Human Resources | Security
