AP to complete digitisation of all land records in a month

Bid to promote transparency, to launch portal soon

Hyderabad, April 27 Andhra Pradesh will achieve the distinction of digitising all the land records in the State in about a month from now, which would go a long way in promoting transparency and fairness in land deals.

The State had nearly completed the scanning of all the land records and is in the process of hosting them on a dedicated Web Site, Mr Dharmana Prasada Rao, Minister for Revenue, Government of Andhra Pradesh, told newspersons here on Sunday.

“Andhra Pradesh is the first State in the country to achieve this distinction. After the launch of the portal everybody can access the land records,” he said.

The State would also be extending the survey of agricultural lands under Bhu Bharathi scheme to all districts next year.

“After launching a pilot survey in Nizamabad, we are conducting the survey in five more districts of Karimnagar, Kadapa, Anantapur, Nellore and Srikakulum at present. Soon the entire State will be surveyed,” Mr Rao said.

After the completion of survey, the State would go ahead with its proposal of conferring titles in the land, he added.

The Government was also taking various steps strengthen the rural revenue administration, including the recruitment of deputy surveyors.

“To harness technology for accuracy, we are also training officials of the Survey Department in latest technology. Already over 700 were trained,” the Minister added.

Mr Vinod Kumar, Commissioner, Survey and Settlements, Government of Andhra Pradesh, said, even the Government of India was showing keen interest in emulating some of the initiates being taken by Andhra Pradesh to streamline land administration.

“At the all India level, a comprehensive programme for land survey and title recognition is being worked out and the State had been giving many inputs,” he said.

Symposium

To discuss various issues pertaining to survey, records and titles the Department of Land Resources, Government of India and the Department of Survey and Land Records, Government of Andhra Pradesh, are organising an international symposium on ‘Contemporary Trends in Cadastral Surveys and Land Titling’ on April 28-29 here.

“The deliberations at the seminar would be sent as recommendations to the Government of India to be used in formulation of a national policy,” Mr Kumar said.

About 100 delegates from all State and Central Governments, Survey of India, Rural Development Foundation (US) including Mr Edward Cook, Senior Land Administration Specialist at the World Bank, and Mr Pairoj Phuekvilai, Surveyor-General of Thailand, would be attending the seminar, he added.
