Seminar on financial services

Mangalore, April 26

The role of financial services sector in the development of the country came in for discussion at a seminar on `Financial services in India: Issues and Challenges', organised by Justice K.S. Hegde Institute of Management at Nitte in Udupi district on Saturday. Dr N.K. Thingalaya, Chairman of the Academic Council of the institute, said India has become a lucrative destination for foreign banks. He stressed the need to remain up-to-date on the happenings in financial services sector to face the challenges. Mr B.S. Baliga, Chief Executive Officer of Lamina Suspension Product ltd, Mangalore, said financial services had a major role to play in the development of tertiary sector of the country. Dr M.S.
