New Delhi, April 28 In a move that could open export opportunities for the anti-collision device (ACD) developed by Konkan Railway, the company has been granted patent by three countries, namely China, Russia and Singapore.

Konkan Railway had applied for worldwide patents for this technology in the past and has already been granted patent for ACD in India and South Africa. The ACD, indigenously designed by Konkan Railway, is a ‘self-acting’ microprocessor-based equipment that prevents collision kind of train accidents in mid-sections, station area and at level crossings.

Konkan Railways has licensed ACD manufacturing to Kernex Microsystems.

Konkan Railway has implemented ACD network on North East Frontier Railway and the ACD networked route was declared as commissioned last year, said a press release issued here today.

It covers 1,924 route km, 202 stations and 589 diesel locomotives, requiring 1508 ACD units.

Now, Konkan Railway has submitted proposal for providing ACD on South Central Railway, south Western Railway, and Southern Railway covering a total of 200 stations and more than 1,600 route km on Vasco-Madgaon-Londa-Hubli-Guntakkal-Renigunta, Ernakulam-Shoranur-Palghat-Erode-Chennai and Bangalore-Jolarpettai sections for supplying 3,200 ACD devices.
