Shamik Paul

Bangalore, April 28 US Computer giant International Business Machines Corp, which recently completed an acquisition of 98.7 per cent stake in Telelogic, said the company would constitute 20 per cent revenue for IBM Rational Software unit in 2008.

IBM said it would acquire the remaining 1.3 per cent stake in the next six to nine months. The integration of Telelogic into IBM is expected be over by early 2009. It would be a part of the IBM Rational Software unit. Till the integration is complete, the companies would do joint sales and marketing, IBM said.

Mr Ken King, Vice-President and Telelogic Integration Executive, IBM Software, said IBM would double the growth rate for Telelogic over the next five years. At present, Telelogic has a growth rate of 8 to 10 per cent, he added.

Telelogic, a provider of software and services for Enterprise Lifecycle Management, helps clients align their product, systems and software management lifecycles with business objectives and customer needs. The acquisition would help IBM to improve delivery of its software products, as well as reduce cost, Mr King said.

IBM said it would introduce Telelogic’s services and products in newer markets. Mr King said he expects highest growth in the APAC region. He said Europe would constitute about 50 per cent of business, the US about 35 to 40 per cent, and the APAC region about 10 to 15 per cent.
